Saving the life of a premature baby born without anus at Al - Mouwasat Hospital in Al-Khobar
With God's grace and success, the medical team at Al-Mowasat Hospital - Al-Khobar succeeded in saving the life of a newly born premature baby who had a congenital anomaly, which is the absence of an anus.
The neonatal and preterm department in the hospital had received the newborn, where the medical team, under the supervision of a consultant pediatric surgeon, Dr. Fatima Al-Fitouri, examined the child and performed the necessary tests and x-rays, which confirmed that the child was suffering from a complete obstruction in the anus. The doctor then decided to perform the surgical intervention. This procedure enabled the child to avoid the complications of intestinal obstruction and colostomy (connecting part of the colon to the anterior wall of the stomach, leaving an opening called a stoma).
After the success of the operation and his discharge from the hospital without any complications, the child was followed up through his review of the outpatient clinics, then he underwent a dilatation operation to maintain the size of the anus, and thank God the infant is now 9 months old and his health condition is completely stable, and he defecates without problems.
It is worth noting that this type of operation is considered the most advanced and requires the presence of a modern and developed department for neonatal intensive care, as this type of care requires the availability of competencies and accurate medical specializations with the presence of modern medical equipment, and this is in line with the vision of the Moiwasat Medical Services Company in attracting competencies and medical specializations Accurate while providing the latest technology and medical equipment.
