Life-Saving Quality Surgery for a Patient Suffering from Severe Gallbladder Inflammation
A life was saved at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Dammam through a quality surgery that involved the removal of an inflamed and pus-filled gallbladder using the endoscopic transduodenal approach.
The patient arrived at the hospital in critical condition, with his life in jeopardy. After conducting the necessary tests and analyses, it was determined that he had severe gallbladder inflammation. Immediately, under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Gouda, a consultant in gastroenterology, the endoscopic team performed the procedure to remove the inflamed and pus-filled gallbladder through the stomach and duodenum using the endoscopic ultrasound technique. The latest metallic stent, AXIOS (wall compressing stent), was also inserted. This procedure is carried out in cases where surgical gallbladder removal poses a significant risk to the patient's life, thus avoiding the need for a permanent catheter through the skin.
Thanks to the grace and guidance of Allah, the surgery was successful. The patient completely recovered from gallbladder inflammation and its associated pain, without the need for an external catheter or wound. He left the hospital in perfect health, ready to resume his normal life.
It is worth mentioning that this type of surgery relies on modern medical technology and highly trained medical staff who adhere to the vision of Al-Mouwasat Medical Services Company in attracting highly skilled and specialized professionals as well as the latest advanced medical techniques and equipment employed in this field.
