A rare and accurate microscopic surgery restores the hearing for a patient at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Qatif
Thanks to God the medical team at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Qatif succeeded in ending the suffering of a patient in his fifties, who was suffering from:
Hearing impairment, by successfully replacing a small functional bone inside the ear through (microscopic) surgery.
The patient attended the Ear, Nose, and Throat clinic at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Qatif, suffering from poor conduction of hearing to his ears, and he had to wear a headset so that he could hear.
The audiologist did the necessary examinations and a hearing test, and the case was diagnosed as sclerosis of the stirrup bone, which is one of the three bones in the middle ear. Dr. Maged Hussein, a consultant ear, nose, and throat surgeon, pointed out the need to replace that bone with an artificial one through microscopic surgery so that the patient can regain the ability to hear normally.
After obtaining the patient's consent to operate, the prosthetic bone was brought from a company specialized in this field. On the day of the operation, the consultant anesthesiologist examined the patient before entering the operation to ensure that he was fit for general anesthesia. In the operating room, Dr. Maged Hussein replaced the bone through high-precision microscopic surgery while preserving the nerves and sensitive tissues surrounding the surgical intervention site in the inner ear.
After following up on the patient in the outpatient clinic, he found that he had regained his ability to hear normally in the ear in which the operation was carried out, and he was very happy that he was finally able to dispense with the artificial ear.
It is worth noting that this type of operation is considered the most advanced and reliant on modern medical technology, which is in line with the vision of the Mouwasat Medical Services Company in attracting competencies and delicate sub-specialties and providing the latest technologies and medical equipment in this field.
