Therapeutic Cerebral Catheterization Saves the Life of a Fifty-Year-Old Patient at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Madinah
The medical team at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Madinah successfully performed a delicate interventional procedure on a fifty-year-old patient suffering from a complex cerebral aneurysm, which had led to a life-threatening hemorrhage.
The patient arrived at the emergency department in severe pain, experiencing sudden and recurrent headaches. Upon conducting detailed examinations using 3D computed tomography (CT) scans, it was revealed that the patient was suffering from a subarachnoid hemorrhage. This critical situation prompted the specialized medical team to act swiftly to save the patient's life.
Under the leadership of Professor Bassem Youssef Sheikh, the team decided to perform a highly precise interventional procedure using the latest available techniques in therapeutic cerebral catheterization. The procedure involved the precise placement of a micro-coil to seal the damaged area of the artery, effectively stopping the hemorrhage.
The patient spent a week under the care of the specialized medical team, who closely monitored his recovery to ensure complete healing. Thanks to the integrated efforts and care provided by the team, the patient was able to leave the hospital in good health and well-being, continuing his rehabilitation journey at the hospital’s physical therapy clinics.
