Rescuing a child from blindness at Al-Mowasat Hospital in Al-Khobar
A 4-year-old and 6-month-old girl was brought to Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Al-Khobar, who was suffering from sudden vision loss.
The case of the child was viewed by Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hai, a pediatric neurosurgeon at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Al-Khobar, where it was found from the initial clinical examination that the reason for this was due to a disorder of the optic nerve in the brain, and by conducting an MRI scan on the brain of the girl, it was found that she had acute inflammation of the origin of the optic nerve in the brain, as a result of her previous infection with the Corona virus, then the necessary treatments were started in cooperation with the ophthalmologists team in the hospital, where intravenous steroids were quickly injected to relieve inflammation in the optic nerve, which led to a noticeable improvement in the child’s eyesight.
The girl was discharged from the hospital after she recovered and regained her sight on the fifth day of treatment.
It is worth noting that this type of treatment depends on modern medical technology, which is in line with the vision of Al-Mouwasat Medical Services Company in attracting competencies and delicate sub-specialties through the use of the latest technologies and advanced medical equipment in this field.
