Removal of a Large Tumor from the Brainstem of a 44-Year-Old Patient
The medical team at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Dammam successfully performed a rare and high-risk surgery to remove a large tumor, exceeding 5 cm in diameter, located at the base of the skull in the posterior cranial fossa.
A 44-year-old female patient was referred to Al-Mouwasat Hospital, where further surgical evaluations confirmed the seriousness of her condition. Under the supervision of Dr. Omar Al-Falaki, Consultant in Neurosurgery, and his surgical team, the entire tumor was removed in a precise microsurgical operation that lasted more than 10 hours. During the surgery, a surgical navigator and continuous monitoring of motor functions were used to ensure the patient's safety.
Following the surgery, the patient underwent intensive physical therapy and was able to return to her family and resume her normal life.
It is noteworthy that such surgeries rely on advanced medical techniques, which align with Al-Mouwasat Medical Services Company's vision to attract highly skilled specialists and subspecialties, using the latest technologies and advanced medical equipment in this field.
