The operation of installing a stent in the pockets of the brain saves a patient from losing her vision
The Interventional Radiology and Cerebral Catheterization team at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Dammam, with God’s well, succeeded in ending the suffering of a woman in her thirties who suffers from severe infiltration of the optic nerve and high pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid around the brain and was threatened with permanent vision loss.
The patient arrived at Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Dammam and she has been suffering for months from severe recurrent headache with ringing in the ear and visual disturbance with blurring in the eye that gradually increases. And brain catheterization, Dr. Ahmed Al-Taher, and the team of neurological catheters and anesthesia developed the necessary treatment plan, then the patient was admitted to the neurological catheter unit, and arterial and venous imaging was done with pressure measurement inside the veins and cerebral venous sinuses, where the venous stenosis was expanded and an intravenous stent was installed inside the left sinus vein under general anesthesia using the latest technologies and devices in the Neuro Catheter Unit.
We would like to thank God for this success, the patient got recovered, as the strength of her vision returned to normal, and the blurred vision and headache disappeared.
